The Vision

About the Campaign

How Every Step for Huntington's turns daily exercise into direct community support.

Our Story

The Walking for HD project was born from João Gonçalo Cunha’s wish to turn something personal and individual into a shared, community-driven purpose. Now, if you walk, you can join and contribute to this fundraising effort.

We believe that major change doesn’t require complex sporting events or expensive smart devices. Sometimes all it takes is the commitment to walk, a small donation per step, and an open platform built on transparency and trust.

Whether you take 5,000 steps walking the dog, commuting on foot, or running on the weekend, your effort counts. By pledging a small amount per step, you turn your daily routine into precious support for those who need it most.

The Cause We Support

What is Huntington's Disease?

Huntington's disease is a rare hereditary neurodegenerative disorder. It damages nerve cells in the brain, gradually impairing physical movement, cognitive functions, and mental health. Often described as a combination of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and ALS, its impact on patients and families is devastating.

The **Portuguese Huntington's Disease Association (APDH)** supports patients and caregivers every day. They offer specialized counseling, educational materials, collaborate on scientific research, and work with government bodies to improve care and create support units for people with Huntington's.

Why Step Donations Work

Fixed financial commitments can be hard to maintain. By connecting your donation directly to the number of steps you take, we make your support tangible and motivating:

  • **Health and Impact:** You walk for your wellbeing while helping others.
  • **Precision in Value:** We suggest micro-donations that protect your wallet while adding up to meaningful community impact.
  • **No Intermediaries:** We do not collect payments. You donate directly to APDH, ensuring 100% of funds reach the destination.
